Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing and acclimatizing to Bhutan’s fresh mountain air. If time permits, enjoy a leisurely stroll around Paro town.
Today is dedicated to sightseeing and acclimatization before the trek. Visit some of Paro’s important cultural landmarks, including Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), Kyichu Lhakhang, and Rinpung Dzong. Return to Paro for an overnight stay to prepare for the trekking adventure ahead.
After breakfast, drive to Drukgyel Dzong and continue to Shana Zampa, the official starting point of the trek. The trail follows the Paro Chhu through beautiful forests of pine, oak, and rhododendron. Several small streams and wooden bridges are crossed before reaching the campsite at Shana.
Today’s trail follows the Paro River through dense forests, passing army checkpoints, yak grazing areas, and beautiful waterfalls. The gradual ascent provides excellent opportunities to observe birds and wildlife before arriving at the campsite at Soi Thangthangkha
