Detail Itinerary for Eastern Bhutan Trip

Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Drive to Thimphu (1 Hour)

Arrival at Paro and our team from ETH will receive you at airport and drive you to Thimphu for sightseeing.

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour of Thimphu, Bhutan’s vibrant capital. Visit the majestic Buddha Dordenma, offering panoramic views of the valley, followed by the sacred Memorial Chorten, where locals gather for daily prayers. Continue to Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s unique national animal, and conclude your tour at the impressive Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the King’s office and the central monastic body. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, drive to Punakha via the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100m), where, on a clear day, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountain range. Continue to Punakha and visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, beautifully situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Walk across the picturesque Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest in Bhutan, and visit the sacred Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility. After sightseeing, check in to your hotel for an overnight stay in Punakha.

After breakfast, drive back to Paro via the scenic Dochula Pass, enjoying panoramic Himalayan views on clear days. Upon arrival in Paro, visit the iconic Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), a fine example of Bhutanese architecture overlooking the valley. Continue to the historic National Museum (Ta Dzong), showcasing Bhutan’s rich heritage and artefacts. Later, visit the beautiful Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan. Evening at leisure in Paro town. Overnight in Paro.
