After breakfast, begin your sightseeing tour of Paro. First, drive towards the airport viewpoint, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the beautiful Paro airstrip surrounded by mountains. After a short 10-minute drive, visit the historic Duntse Temple. Later, after lunch, continue your exploration with a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, Bhutan’s oldest.Next, visit Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong), built in 1646. Finally, visit Ta Dzong, National Museum of Bhutan in 1967. In the evening, return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Paro.
To begin with, drive towards Thimphu, the charming capital city of Bhutan. Upon arrival, begin your city tour with a visit to the 13th Arts and Crafts School, where you can witness Bhutan’s traditional art forms being preserved and practiced.
Thereafter, explore the Textile Museum to learn about Bhutan’s rich weaving traditions and cultural heritage. Finally, visit the magnificent Trashichho Dzong, an important landmark that houses the offices of the government and the central monastic body.
In the morning After breakfast, proceed towards Punakha through scenic mountain roads. En route, stop at Dochula Pass, which offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks on clear days. Here, take some time to enjoy the panoramic surroundings and capture beautiful photographs.
As you continue descending, the landscape gradually changes, and the warmer climate of Punakha welcomes you with lush valleys and fertile paddy fields. Upon arrival, visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple. Finally, check in to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Punakha.
As you begin your journey, drive towards Gasa. Depending on the road conditions, the journey from Punakha to Damji takes approximately 2–3 hours. During the drive, enjoy beautiful views of Bhutan’s countryside, agricultural fields, and subtropical forests as you gradually approach the village of Damji (2,430M).
From Damji, the trek begins with a gentle climb through the village before following the valley trail, offering stunning views of Gasa Dzong and the surrounding snow-covered peaks. Afterward, the trail descends towards a large stream leading to the famous Gasa Hot Springs.
Upon reaching the hot springs, relax and rejuvenate in the naturally heated pools managed by Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Park. Finally, enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
continue your trek towards Koina. Gradually, the trail leads through beautiful forests and untouched landscapes. After approximately 5 hours of walking, arrive at Koina, where you will set up camp and enjoy the peaceful mountain environment.
Today, continue your trek towards the remote village of Laya. Along the way, the trail winds up and down through the Mo Chhu River valley, offering breathtaking views of rushing rivers, waterfalls, and surrounding mountains.
Furthermore, several ascents and descents lead you to Kohi Lapcha at 3,300M. After crossing this section, descend towards Koina Chhu stream and continue until reaching the campsite near Laya.
Commence your journey towards laya enjoy a relaxing day exploring the unique village of Laya. During your stay, visit local homes and experience the warm hospitality of the Layap people. Traditionally, visitors are welcomed into homes without prior invitations, where they are offered tea or Chang (local beverage).

begin your trek from Laya towards Rodophu. Initially, descend towards the army camp and continue along the river trail until reaching the turning point towards Rodophu.
After lunch, continue the gradual climb through beautiful rhododendron forests. Finally, arrive at the campsite located at an altitude of approximately 4,350M, where you will rest after a rewarding day of trekking.
Today marks one of the longest and most challenging days of the trek; therefore, an early start is essential. After an early breakfast, begin the trek around 5:00 AM and climb towards Tsimola Pass (4,700M).
After crossing the first pass, enjoy spectacular views of Lunana, Jomolhari, and Jichu Drake. Thereafter, continue across the trail before ascending towards Gangla Karchula Pass (5,080M).
From the pass, admire breathtaking panoramic views of Masagang, Tsendegang, Teri Gang, and other Himalayan peaks. Finally, descend through the scenic Tarina Valley and reach the campsite at an altitude of 3,980M.
Initially, the trek continues towards Woche. Compared to the previous days, today’s walk is relatively easier as the trail gradually follows the river downstream through beautiful landscapes. Along the way, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, mountain views, and natural beauty of the Lunana region. After reaching the lowest point at around 3,500m, we will stop for lunch. Later, the trail gradually climbs about 300 meters through scenic terrain before reaching Woche village, where we set up camp for the night at an altitude of 3,800m.
Starting your day with the trek begins through beautiful juniper and fir forests, followed by stretches of colorful rhododendron bushes. Gradually, we ascend towards Keche La Pass at an altitude of 4,480m. From the pass, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Afterwards, the trail descends towards the river, passing through charming villages and offering spectacular views of Table Mountain and other snow-covered peaks. Finally, we follow the river, one of the main sources of Pho Chhu, until we reach Lhedi village for our overnight camp.

Today’s trek begins with a gradual climb towards a ridge, where you can enjoy magnificent views of Table Mountain and the Thanza Valley below. The trail continues to rise slowly, reaching around 4,650m near the footbridge. After lunch, we continue along the trail, surrounded by stunning views of snow-capped mountains. Crossing several ridges, we finally arrive at Tsorim campsite, located at an impressive altitude of 5,125m.

The final ascent takes us to Gophula Pass at 5,230m more over the highest point of this journey. From the pass, we descend along the ridge towards Gangkar Puensum Base Camp while enjoying incredible views of the world’s highest unclimbed mountain, Gangkar Puensum. Those who have enough energy can make an optional climb towards Pyramid Peak for an even better viewpoint, while others can relax at the base camp near Sha Chu at 4,970m.
After several challenging days of trekking, today Especially is reserved for rest and exploration around the base camp. Enjoy the magnificent views of Gangkar Puensum and the surrounding Himalayan landscape while allowing your body to acclimatize and recover.

The trek continues along the Sha Chu River for about two and a half hours before beginning the steep climb towards Sakala Pass Despite The trail through Sakala can sometimes have limited visibility, so careful walking is required. After lunch near a yak herder’s camp, we continue climbing to reach Sakala Pass at 4,800m. From here, descend towards beautiful alpine lakes and continue with another short ascent to Warathang Pass at 4,590m Ultimately Surrounded by crystal-clear lakes and majestic mountain peaks, the scenery is truly unforgettable. We then reach our campsite at around 4,000m.

From the pass, the trail descends through dense forests of rhododendron, juniper, and conifer trees. After crossing the bridge, a final short climb takes us to Dur Tsachu Hot Spring, a sacred site believed to have been visited by Guru Padmasambhava in the 8th century. Enjoy the relaxing natural hot springs and camp nearby.

This marks the final day of the Gangkar Puensum Trek Thus completing the Trek. Today, we gradually descend along the Chamkhar Chu River, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and beautiful landscapes. After completing the trek, we reach Dhur village, where our trekking crew and pack animals will conclude their journey. From here, we continue towards Bumthang by vehicle.
