Royal Heritage Trek Detailed Itinerary -9 Days

Day 1: Arrival at Paro International Airport (Altitude: 2,200m)

Welcome to Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, one of Asia’s most scenic airports, our representative will warmly receive you and provide a brief orientation about your journey. If flights are booked through us, we will try our best to arrange suitable seats for breathtaking Himalayan views during the flight. Later, explore Paro town and enjoy your first glimpse of Bhutanese culture. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

Today is your ultimate training hike moreover You’ll climb steadily through pine forests up to the gravity-defying Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). Standing on the cliffside facing this sacred spot is unforgettable and great for prepping your lungs.

After enjoying a scenic domestic flight to Bumthang, you will arrive in one of Bhutan’s most peaceful and culturally rich valleys. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in and a short refreshment break. Later, you will begin exploring the serene valley, where you can discover its ancient monasteries, traditional villages, and remarkable cultural heritage. Moreover, as you travel through the beautiful landscapes, you will experience the unique charm, spiritual atmosphere, and timeless traditions that make Bumthang one of Bhutan’s most treasured destinations.

After breakfast begin with, the Royal Heritage Trek starts with a pleasant walk from Wangdichholing Palace to Domkar Tashichholing Palace. Along the way, you will gradually pass through quiet villages and beautiful farmland, while also experiencing the peaceful rhythm of rural Bhutan. Furthermore, this scenic journey allows you to discover Bhutan’s fascinating royal history and, at the same time, gain insight into the traditional lifestyle and culture of the local communities.

After breakfast, enjoy a short and gentle hike from Domkar to Jamsapang, a peaceful campsite surrounded by alpine meadows and rolling hills. The brief walk allows plenty of time to relax, acclimatize to the higher altitude, and take in the spectacular mountain scenery. Along the way, you may encounter grazing yaks and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Spend the afternoon exploring the area, resting, or photographing the beautiful Himalayan landscape before an overnight stay at Jamsapang.

After breakfast, begin a leisurely hike from Jamsapang to Bjobshisa, following a gentle trail through alpine meadows and open yak pastures. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the peaceful highland landscape along the way. Upon arrival at Bjobshisa, set up camp and spend the rest of the day exploring the nearby area, relaxing in the pristine surroundings, or taking photographs of the spectacular scenery. After breakfast, descend from Bjobshisa to the historic Kuenga Rabten Palace, passing through forests, farmland, and traditional villages. Upon arrival, explore the former winter residence of Bhutan’s second King and admire its rich history and traditional architecture. Overnight at a nearby lodge or campsite.

After breakfast, drive from Trongsa to Paro via the scenic East–West Highway. En route, cross the beautiful Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where, on a clear day, you can enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Continue through Thimphu Valley before arriving in Paro. Check in to your hotel and spend the evening relaxing or exploring Paro town. Overnight in Paro.
