About This trekking Programme

Chelela Trek – Overview

The Chele La to Kila Goenpa Trek is one of Bhutan’s most scenic day hikes, starting with a drive from Paro to Chele La Pass, the country’s highest motorable pass. Colorful prayer flags flutter in the mountain breeze, while clear days offer breathtaking views of Mt. Jomolhari and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

From Chele La, enjoy a gentle downhill walk through peaceful forests to Kila Goenpa, a secluded monastery perched on a rocky cliff. Home to Buddhist nuns devoted to prayer, meditation, and religious studies, the monastery offers a tranquil atmosphere and a unique glimpse into Bhutan’s spiritual heritage. The hike to the monastery takes about an hour, making it an ideal day trip for nature lovers and cultural enthusiasts.
