Versey Trek in Sikkim is an approximately 4.5 km walk daily and can be completed within 3 – 4 hours. This is the day that you have looked forward to! Thrown on your trekking shoes and get walking along the terrain of these Sikkimese hills. Get ready to experience your time by entering the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary.
A wonderful Himalayan trek adorned with riots of rhododendron, Varsey trek is an offbeat trekking destination of Sikkim. A no-sweat trek with moderate hikes invites trekkers who trek more to get closer to nature than to feel the thrill of adventure. The trek reaches up to a height of 3300 m and is ideal for short to medium-distance treks. The area is beautified by hanging mosses and a wonderful array of endemic species of flora and fauna. From March to April Rhododendron trees bloom with vibrant colors and the hills are ablaze with different shades of red and yellow Rhododendrons. After a visit to Gangtok, one of the most fascinating tourist spots of Sikkim and Pemayangtse Monastery, one can plan for a three days trek with a night stay in camps to see those bewildering sights of Varsey.

Trek from Pemayangsey-Varsey-Phur Cha Cho-Mirik-Bagdugra
It’s always better to take an early flight from Delhi to bagdugra so that you reach Sikkim on time. Once you reach Bagdogra airport, our representative will take you on a drive to Gangtok, which is around 112 km away. It takes around five and a half hours to reach Gangtok and during that time our team will brief you about the trekking routes, places to visit in Sikkim, and all essential information during the tour. The drive passes through the magnetic river Teesta where you will be allowed to have a glimpse of major sightseeing spots taking pause at each site. Upon arrival transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
Today we shall tour the important places of Sikkim. Our full-day sightseeing at Gangtok. Rumtek Monastery, Research Institute of Tibet ology, Tibetan Market, etc. Rumtek monastery is the largest monastery in Sikkim, Rumtek Monastery is the seat of the Karmapa Lama, the third highest monk in Tibetan Buddhism. It also serves as one of the most important seats of the Kagyu (Black Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism outside of Tibet and is also known as Dharmachakra Centre. Overnight stay at Hotel.
After breakfast, we shall visit Themi tea state followed by Pemayangtse (2985m). The Pemayangtse Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Pemayangtse, near Pelling in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, located 110 km west of Gangtok. Along the way visit Temi tea state. The Temi Tea Garden (27.2367°N 88.4222°E) in Temi, established in 1969 by the Government of Sikkim, is located in South Sikkim in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim. It is the only tea garden in Sikkim and is considered one of the best in India and the world.
Lunch at the tea estate. En-route visit the Swiss cheese factory. Overnight stay in Pemayangtse.
After breakfast, a 17 km drive to Damthang and a 12 km gradual moderate trek to Varsey. It is around 3060 m in elevation and is located near the Indo-Nepal border. The trek is dotted with blazing rhododendron and a sanctuary of high-altitude birds. December to March is considered to be the prime time for seeing both in flying colors. Birds found in this sanctuary are Satyr Tragopan (Tragopan Satyra) which is one of the rare species of Pheasants found in the Eastern Himalayas, and the other star bird species to look for is Fire-tailed Myzornis. Also, Rufous-vented Tit, Grey Crested Tit, Rufous-fronted Tit, Green Shrike Babbler, Tibetan Siskin, Dark breasted Rosefinch, White-browed Rosefinch, Spotted Laughingthrush, White-collared Blackbird, Darjeeling woodpecker, Crimson-breasted Woodpecker, Fire-capped Tit, Himalayan Cutia, Several Species of Laughingthrushes, Fulvous & Great Parrotbills, White-browed Fulvetta, etc… can be seen. Overnight stay in tented accommodation.
Enjoy the sunrise from one of the high-altitude peaks, go for birding, and in the meantime have a glimpse of the rhododendron sanctuary. Overnight stay in tents.
After breakfast trek to Helly. This 4 km trek will take around 1 hour to cover the trail till you reach the road point. We take car from here which is about a 68 km drive that will take us to Phur Cha Cho (Sulphur water spring) on the bank of river Rangreet. In the afternoon, visit the ancient and holy caves at Khandu – Samphu. Overnight stay in the Camp.
The main attraction of Mirik is its picturesque lake and boating is the soul of Mirik. You will get enough time to enjoy horse riding. Roam across the tea gardens, and savor the fresh tea collected from local tea gardens. The Buddhist monastery established by BOKAR RIMPOCHE is a must-see sight. Overnight stay in Mirik.
Our 8 Days Sikkim trek ends here. After breakfast gets ready to reach Bagdogra Airport at a distance of 52 km from Mirik and from here catch a flight for your onward destination.
