Bhutan Tourist Visa

  • Tourists can only visit Bhutan through authorized tour operators.
  • Independent travel is not permitted, and visitors must book a guided tour package.
  • The minimum daily tariff is set by the government, covering accommodation, meals, transport, and a licensed guide.

Some areas in Bhutan are restricted and require special permits. These permits are usually arranged by the tour operator.

SDF (Sustainabel Development Fees)

  • In addition to the daily tariff, visitors are required to pay a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF).
  • The SDF contributes to the development of infrastructure, education, and healthcare in Bhutan.

SDF for Indian national travelling to Bhutan is USD 15 per person per night for adults and USD 8 for children between 6 to 12 years of age and no SDF for 6 years and below.

SDF other than Indian national is USD 100 per person per night. USD 50 for children between 6 to 12 years and no SDF for children below 6 years.

Permitted Entry Points:

    • Visitors can enter Bhutan only through specific entry points, usually by air through Paro International Airport.
    • Duration of Stay:
      • Tourist visas are generally granted for the duration of the planned tour.
      • Extension of Stay:
      • Extensions beyond the original duration may be possible but are subject to approval.
      • Restricted Areas:
        Some areas in Bhutan are restricted and require special permits. These permits are usually arranged by the tour operator.
      • Visa for Regional Tourists:
        Citizens of India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives can travel to Bhutan without a visa. However, they need to obtain an entry permit upon arrival.

  • Step 2 Give your passport, Passport size phot and travel insurance to your tour organiser.
  • Step 3 Pay the SDF ($100 per person per night) and one time Visa fees of USD 40.
  • Step 4 Get the Bhutan Visa.
