On arrival at Paro Airport, drive to Thimphu city. Enroute stop make a visit to Tachog Lhakhang ,a private temple built in 16th century by Tibetan saint Thangton Gampo. At Thimphu, visit Folk Heritage Museum -a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse showcasing rural life and culture and then National Memorial Chorten, a revered stupa dedicated to world peace, frequented by locals for daily prayers followed by a visit to Changyul Park, a tranquil recreational area in Bhutan, often celebrated for its serene environment and connection to nature. Leisure time in the evening by strolling through the streets of Thimphu or relax at the hotel with a rejuvenating spa session. Dinner and over night stay at Hotel Pemako.
Spend a full day exploring Thimphu. After breakfast, start with a visit to the grand Tashichho Dzong and the towering Buddha Dordenma, followed by a cultural tour of the Folk Heritage Museum and National Institute for Zorig Chusum, before relaxing at the Motithang Takin Preserve, and ending your day with a stroll through the vibrant Weekend Market or Craft bazaar to buy authentic, locally-made souvenirs to support Bhutanese artisans and their traditional crafts.
Depart from Thimphu early in the morning. Enroute stop at Dochula Pass for stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. Visit the 108 chortens and take some time to explore the peaceful surroundings. On arrival, visit Chimi Lhakhang known for blessings of fertility and its quirky traditions. Afterward, walk to the nearby Punakha Suspension Bridge for a scenic view of the valley and rivers followed by a visit to Punakha Dzong and explore this stunning fortress, known as the “Palace of Great Happiness,” nestled at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Over night at Hotel And Beyond Lodge.
A day excursion to Gangtey from Punakha offers a scenic 3-hour drive through the lush Phobjikha Valley, where you can visit the stunning Gangtey Monastery, explore the vast wetlands home to the endangered black-necked cranes, and enjoy tranquil nature walks amidst the beautiful landscapes. After exploring Gangtey, you can drive back to Punakha. Enroute visit Wangdue Dzong, a majestic fortress perched on a hill overlooking the confluence of two rivers. Dinner and over night at hotel.
After breakfast, start a drive towards Paro. At Paro visit Paro Dzong which houses the district Monastic Body as well as government administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag and then Taa dzong which was built in the 1649 and serves as a National Museum. Later spend your leisure time at Paro airport views with souvenir drinks. Dinner and over night at Hotel Como Uma.
After early breakfast, start your drive till Taktsang base for around 30 minutes and start your hike towards Tiger’s Nest which takes about 4-5 hours round trip, winds through lush forests and offers stunning views. At the halfway point, there’s a café with panoramic views of the monastery. The site is of great spiritual significance, as it is where Guru Rinpoche meditated in the 8th century. Reaching the top, visitors can explore the monastery’s prayer halls and experience a sense of tranquility and connection to Bhutan’s rich Buddhist heritage.
Later make a visit to Drugyel and Kyichu Lhakhang. Dinner and over night at hotel.
