Festival Tour in Nepal. Nepal is not only known for its Himalayas but also very popular for its unique culture, tradition, and religious festivals. There are more than 50 festivals celebrated in Nepal each year. While the national festivals have fixed dates, religious and cultural festivals are set by astrologers following the lunar calendar.
The best part about the festivals in Nepal is that all the events are celebrated with the same enthusiasm and in large numbers the way they used to be hundreds of years ago when people had no other means of entertainment. Even today festivals are not only yearly spectacles, but also are living part of a rich cultural legacy. Celebrating festivals effectively unite people having diverse cultural background together and this is also the chance of sharing their social lives. Although most of these festivals are religious some have historical significance too. Most Nepalese festivals are related to different Hindu and Buddhist gods and goddesses and they are celebrated on such days as divine for them by religion and tradition.
For the Buddhist pilgrims Mani Rimdu, the Dumji festivals trek in the Everest region and the Tiji festival trek in Mustang have been very popular today. One festival of Hindus is Dashain, the festival of lights which is a most magnificent festival. Holi the festival of colors and the main Shamanism Festival is celebrated in sacred Lake Gosainkunda of Langtang Region during Janai Purnima in the month of Bhadra (August) Full moon day. Buddhist festival treks in Nepal and gorgeous and that reward travelers with a chance of observing real and ideal Tibetan Buddhist religion, culture, and authentic festivals in the Himalayas along with breathing and taking a view of snow-capped mountains. These festivals attract many western tourists and hotels and flights are sold out months in advance to organised vacationers groups. Anyone wishing to visit Nepal during these fascinating festivals should plan and make their tour preparations well in advance.

We start to drive from Kathmandu to Salleri in a local Jeep, it is about 10 hour drive. We can book flights or private cars/jeeps for comfortable keen travelers. Drive is more fun as we can view the panoramas of Riverside view, the jungle, wonderful landscapes, and the scattered villages during the ride. We cross the bridge at Sunkoshi River and continue through Okhaldhunga. On the way, we can see incredible peaks such as Dudhkunda (Numpur Himal), Everest, and others. Then it is a continual drive that takes us to the district of Solukhumbu-Salleri. Overnight at Lodge.
Trek to Junbesi from Salleri via Ringmo. We spent the first night in the town of Junbesi, below. This part of Solu is lush and heavily forested, with huge pine woods (left), deep ravines, and high ridges; the “real” mountains are much further north, but the Solu ridges are quite impressive. The path from Phaplu to Junbesi is not used much by trekkers, since there’s a more direct route from Phaplu to Lukla, but efficiency is not our goal. Overnight in Junbesi.
Enjoy the most beautiful festival of Thupten Chholing Monastery and witness the monks and lay men performing rituals and locals enjoying the moment.
Different dances are performed on different days and you can expect people from all walks of life to attend the occasion. Enjoy the whole day. Evening at the lodge.
Thupten Chholing Monastery is the retreat community and monastery established by Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche in the 1960s in the Solu Khumbu district. The festival is celebrated every year.
After breakfast, we start our journey back to Phublu. On the way, you will come across lots of locals and trekkers where you can share your experience and enjoy the moment. Overnight at Lodge. Hike back to Phaplu and then to Salleri,
Our Nepal Festival Tour ends here today with our guide seeing you off at the airport.
