Day 1Arrival in Paro (Altitude: 2,250 m / 7,382 ft)

Welcome to Bhutan! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you’ll be greeted and begin your scenic drive to Phuentsholing. The drive is approximately 180 km and takes around 6-7 hours via winding mountain roads descending from Paro to the Indian border town of Phuentsholing. Enjoy the stunning landscape transitions from lush valleys to subtropical lowlands as you descend from 2,250 meters to about 366 meters (1,200 ft) in Phuentsholing. Check into your hotel and rest.

Day 2Phuentsholing Tsechu (Altitude: 366 m / 1,200 ft)

Today, you’ll attend the vibrant Phuentsholing Tsechu festival, a colorful and culturally rich event showcasing Bhutanese masked dances, music, and local traditions. Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of this unique festival. Evening at leisure to explore the local market or relax.

Day 3Phuentsholing to Thimphu (Altitude: 2,320 m / 7,656 ft) — 165 km, approx. 6-7 hours

After breakfast, start your journey from the lowlands of Phuentsholing back into the Himalayan foothills en route to the capital city, Thimphu. The road climbs steadily, crossing beautiful valleys and pine forests. Arrive in Thimphu by late afternoon. Check into your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening in the capital.

Day 4Thimphu Sightseeing

Explore Thimphu, Bhutan’s peaceful capital. Visit the Buddha Dordenma Statue (3,000 m), Tashichho Dzong, the Memorial Chorten, and the folk heritage museum. Enjoy the blend of tradition and modernity in this serene city. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 5Thimphu to Punakha (Altitude: 1,300 m / 4,265 ft) — 85 km, approx. 3 hours

Depart Thimphu in the morning and drive to Punakha, Bhutan’s former winter capital nestled between the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. En route, stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 m / 10,200 ft) to admire panoramic views of the Himalayas and the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Arrive in Punakha and visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, considered one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan. Overnight in Punakha.

Day 6 Punakha to Paro (Altitude: 2,250 m / 7,382 ft) — 125 km, approx. 5 hours

Leave Punakha and drive back towards Paro valley, passing through scenic mountain landscapes and traditional Bhutanese villages. Upon arrival in Paro, visit the Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Day 7Paro Sightseeing and Tiger’s Nest Hike

Spend the day exploring Paro. Start with a hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), perched on a cliffside at 3,120 meters. The hike takes about 4-5 hours round trip and offers spectacular views and spiritual experience. Return to town and visit the Paro Dzong and local museums. Overnight in Paro.

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure flight, concluding your memorable Bhutan journey.
