The Soi Yaktsa Trek, also known as the Jomolhari Loop Trek, is one of Bhutan’s most scenic and rewarding short trekking adventures. Combining natural beauty, adventure, and culture, this 7-day Bhutan trekking tour follows the classic Jomolhari Base Camp route from Paro to Jangothang. Along the way, trekkers experience breathtaking landscapes before returning via the beautiful Soi Yaktsa trail, which offers a different yet equally spectacular perspective.

Soi Yaktsha Trek Detail Itinerary for 14 Days

Day 1: Arrival in Paro Altitude: 2,280m Distance: Airport Transfer (Approx. 5 km) Driving Time: 15–20 Minutes

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and then transferred to your hotel. After check-in, you can relax and unwind while gradually acclimatizing to Bhutan’s fresh mountain air. Later, if time permits, enjoy a leisurely stroll around Paro town and experience the peaceful surroundings.

Today, enjoy sightseeing and acclimatization in Paro before the trek. First, visit the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang). Then, explore the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang and historic Rinpung Dzong. Finally, return to Paro for a restful overnight stay, preparing for the exciting trekking adventure ahead.

Your Trek of Bhutan starts today. This is a leisure trek and one of the most popular treks in Bhutan. To begin with, the trek starts from Drukgyel Dzong, which dominates the beautiful Paro Valley. On a clear day, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Chomolhari (7,325m), standing majestically at the far end of the Himalayas. Moreover, this route serves as the starting point for several famous treks, including the full Snowman Trek, Laya Gasa Trek, Half Snowman Trek, Chomolhari Trek, and Yaktsa Trek.

Afterwards, the trail continues along the scenic Paro River. Gradually, you will follow the left side of the river and pass through charming villages where locals cultivate potatoes, wheat, and rice. Along the way, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and stunning landscapes. Finally, you will reach the Army Base Camp, where permits will be checked before proceeding to the campsite. The campsite is beautifully located just 200 metres from the Army Base, beside the river, offering a peaceful and refreshing overnight stay.

Spend the day exploring the breathtaking Dagala region, known for its beautiful high-altitude lakes and peaceful landscapes. Enjoy a picnic beside the pristine lakes while taking in the incredible mountain views. Overnight camp.

Leave behind the beautiful lakes and continue trekking through the Dagala range. The trail offers spectacular valley views and opportunities to spot Himalayan wildlife, including blue sheep and Himalayan monal. Overnight camp at Panka.

On the final day of trekking, descend towards Talakha Monastery, a peaceful spiritual site offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. After completing the trek, drive back to Thimphu and relax in the comfort of your hotel. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

After breakfast, drive towards Punakha via Dochula Pass, where you can enjoy spectacular Himalayan views. Visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, located between the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers, followed by a visit to Chimi Lhakhang, the famous temple of the Divine Madman. Continue to Wangdue for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, drive back towards Thimphu. Visit Buddha Point, home to one of Bhutan’s largest Buddha statues with beautiful views over the valley. Later, continue to Paro and visit Simply Bhutan Museum for a final cultural experience including traditional performances and archery. Overnight stay in Paro.

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight with beautiful memories of Bhutan’s landscapes, culture, and trekking adventure.
